Ten weeks, 15 February 2014.

As usual post office hours, I drove my Freeca II Mitsubishi or in Indonesia well known as a Mitsubishi Kuda with 4D56 diesel engine to the workshop to see the progress of my babe da Trooper. I start from Nusa Dua by 14.35 Bali Time, but un fortunately the traffic a long the road from Jimbaran to Denpasar jam hold me too long on the road. Normally take abut 45 minute to Denpasar from Nusa Dua, but this time take almost 2 hour.

Creating rear end

Creating rear end

Finally I arrive at workshop by 16.50 Bali time and the workshop ready to close. But as a loyal costumer, I can entry the workshop and just have a look my trooper. Seem not so many progress from last week. It’s only fitting the rear end and that’s it. But luckily, MR. Eko the mechanic still not went out. He greet me and said that he must fixing another car since the owner of the car will bring the car to Java. He apologize for the delaying. But I said never mind as I must understanding that he also must follow his boss direction after me.

Fitting Foot Step and fender

Fitting Foot Step and fender

We discuss about the rear end and the fender and also the remake of the footstep. Use the previous foot step, but must modify a little bit to make it match and harmonize with the front fender and the rear end of the vehicle.
After discussed the model of the foot step and the rear end, I left the workshop at 17.14 Bali time in a hurry as I must be in my home village due to my wife must open her aerobic class by 18.00

Fitting Foot Step

Fitting Foot Step

Eleven weeks, 22 February 2014.
By 12.15 I’ve been on the way to the workshop as I bit early home from the office as I take a permit to home earlier than usually. So I am arrive at the workshop by 13.20 Bali time and go straight away to the hangar of the welded to see the develop of the project.
I realized that the front fender and the rear end almost finish, but Mr. Eko still check the detail of the harmonization of the body kit in order to make it perfectly fit and good looking on the vehicle.

Fitting Foot Step and fender

Fitting Foot Step and fender

I watch the mechanic cutting the new plat to make the part of the fender. I enjoyed very much watching the mechanic doing the work. So I can observed how the part must cut down and how to fitting and remake the part of the fender.
I back home by 17.15 Bali time as the workshop near to closed.

Twelve week, 1 March 2014.
As usual I arrived in the workshop by 15.00 and inspect the development of the project and knowing that the fender now almost finish. But still fitting the foot step to make it proper and good looking when it bolt on the body of the da trooper.
Need the good mood and patience to make the foot step in order to make the harmonize part overall.
I must appreciate to Mr. Eko the technician for his effort to realized the body kit are fit and built properly on my da trooper. He many do a trail and error to realized what I wants and how it look on the da trooper, and if I think it is not perfect or not good looking, I ask him to put out and remake with another model or design. It’s really take time to build until met what I expected.
But finally the foot step now fit on my da trooper. It make me happy.

Foot Step

Foot Step

Thirteen weeks, 8 March 2014
I inspect the project and realize that, foot step are fit and also the fender are now seem in connection with the footstep, but actually there is still a small things which not make me satisfied, but I could not think what is that. It is around the foot step and the front fender.
But it’s Okay for the moment, as we must to continue to another part to make the progress move on. So the mechanic start with another work which is to modify the front bumper.

Modify Bullbar

Modify Bullbar

Fourteen weeks, 15 March 2014.
Now, the mechanic work with the front bumper as I need to modify a little bit, fitting the Xenon lamp ex All New CRV on the front bumper, remove the turn direction lamp and add the small direction lamp on the right and left side of the end bumper and add on wide of the bumper down about 2 inches and follows to ending in front face of the bumper. So it make the bumper seem more bigger and more tough. He he he.
While the Xenon lamp ex All New CRV are now buried in the end of the front face in left and right of the front bumper. It use as a head lamp or fog lamp. It quiet difficult to fitting and build the house of the Xenon lamp as a very slim space for it position in the front bumper, but Mr. Eko success to made it.

Pimp my Hi-Roof Black Trooper project ( part 4)

Hallo all of my beloved friends who love to join in this web. I am back again to continue sharing pimp my da trooper. Please enjoy…!

Eight weeks, 1 February 2014.

I visit the work shop at 15.15 Bali time, but quiet surprising as there is no development at all. And the owner of the workshop greet me and inform that Mr. Demung the mechanic who work on my da Trooper is absent since last Monday as his mother being hospitalized, and telling me that he have been replace by Mr. Eko, the lovely man who I discuss at the first and asked his opinion about the condition and the plan of the over fender I wish.

WORKING IN PROGRESS

WORKING IN PROGRESS

I straight away came to the hangar where my da Trooper placed I meet Mr. Eko still measuring the wide of the fender. He greet me when I closer to the da Trooper. He inform me that he has appointing to continue the project replacing Mr. Demung as he still keeping his mother in hospital. But by joke he also telling me that Mr. Demung could not continue to build the over fender as he does not have an idea, although I always discuss and give the direction what I wants on the fender. But it’s okay, as now I can develop my idea and realizing on Mr.Eko hands as he seem so enthusiasm to build the fender as he also very much interesting on how will my da trooper look upon the fender finish and fit on it’s body.

NEW OVER FENDER STYLE

NEW OVER FENDER STYLE

Mr. Eko now measuring the wide fender and the wide of it’s molded. According to him this is the difficulties work to build a fender. To make it fit and looks great. So he will work and finish on the one side till the end of the rear bumper to make it nice looking. And for sure will do try and error until we see it nice and perfect.

REAR FENDER SEEN FROM FRONT SIDE

REAR FENDER SEEN FROM FRONT SIDE

The rear fenders are now already find the size and the design and it’s fit on the body, and now to finishing to be more perfect and seem smooth before coating by primary anti rust paint. Mr. Eko finishing the rear fender smooth and very diligent.
After rear fenders finish, he will build the rear end bumper fender and replaced the original one. It is will face the rear of the da trooper more wide and big because of the wide body.

REAR FENDER SEEN FROM BACK SIDE

REAR FENDER SEEN FROM BACK SIDE

Nine weeks, 8 February 2014.
Rear fenders now finish. Mr. Eko now start with the rear end bumper to measuring the plat and designing the model of the side rear end. We discus about the molded on the bumper, it will be good or not if the molded go around the bumper till the end on the side beside the fender. I still not so sure that it will be nice looking if the molded go through the side rear end bumper. Meaning the molded will be ended on back side only. While the side beside the fender will be without molded, but again I also not so sure will be nice looking or not.

But in my mind, the bumper and the fender and also the side body molded will be finishing by the rough texture paint or like a plastic surface. But again I am still quiet doubt. Anyway, finally I decided to wait after all of the fender finish to built. And we will concentrate with the finishing after all the welded process are finish and start with the finishing process.
I left the workshop by 4.14 pm Bali time as I must go to home village as usual.

To be continued.

Pimp my Hi-Roof Black Trooper project ( part 3)

Hello all of da Trooper Bali my beloved netters….
How are you today…? Hopefully every things ar OK with you and your family too.
I will continue to share about the development of the Pimp my da Trooper project. Just enjoy the story.
New flat metal for the

The seven weeks, 28 December 2013.

As usual, I still intent to visit the work shop every Saturday noon to inspect and monitoring the development of the Pimp my Trooper project.
Since lately the whether not so good as almost hard rain every day, the technician could not work as fast as usual, I notify that the progress of the work was not much significantly progress.

New Water line of the roof

But the water line of the right side are now finish and ready for foxy primary paint, but must be brushing by sand paper before painting. According to the service consultant, to remake and welding of the water line might be take another a week to finish. After finish with water line, it must inspect all of the panel part to find if there is any hidden porous rusted part. It is to make sure that no porous part are miss to remake and change the metal. This is very important to keep the body long life and avoid porous by rust quickly.
New water line of the front roof

The frame of the front glass is also just finish to remake, as it is some point are also porous, and the pillar A both side are also just finish to remake. I notice that it ready to fitting before paint by anti rust foxy primary paint.
I inspect to all of the part, including to the engine room, especially the firewall and found that there is a porous in the corner of the engine room left and right both side in the end of the spark board of the wheel and as well the hub of the fire wall and the spark board. Event only a little spot, but I insist asked to the mechanic to cut the rusted plat and changes it with the new one to stop the rust beating the body. The position of the rusted part are in the difficult side, so it is take time to remake it to fit it in the right position and keep the surface as like the originally.

New water line of the left side
As the mechanic is an expert guy who is already been work as a mechanic specialist in the body part and welded a car, he really keep his work result in the best quality and keep the body as like originally, even he must spent a lot of time to build it. So I am very happy with him as he also often ask my opinion if there is any doubt related to the things he done.
He also inspect that the inside water line which is hidden by the wind in let, which is in the front of the glass window are also porous by the rust, seem this is the small hole where the water coming from during the heavy hard rain, so it must be fixed and must cut the porous part and change with the new plat. So Mr. Demung cut the outer cover to inspect the inner water line and yes, after the outer cover cut off, we can see that the inside water line where the water must be run and out from the side of the above of the front wheel are porous by the rust. Mr. Demung cut them and remake with the new plat to close those small hole. As usual, he paint the new plat and the inside of the water line by the antirust paint, and after it quiet dry then close the hole and welded those part closed and to make it waterproof.
Porous in the inside of the water line

This happen to the both side, left and right. Mr. Demung really rally make me quiet amazing as he knew very well the part side of the vehicle where is usually porous by the rust, he keep check every side where is potentially damage. Even in the hidden side. I am really really happy with his work and effort. And must give him an award after he finish with the body remake project. The project still need about another 12 weeks, to finish.

And now will inspect also the frame of the body and I hope that there is no porous or any damage on it.
Seem that almost all of the panel are now finish to remake and just awaiting for brushing the new part before primary paint. But I again ask the consultant to re-inspect all of the part to make sure that all of the panel are clean from the porous.
Damage of the inside water line

So after finished with the original body, Mr. Demung the body welded specialist will concern to build a new over fender as I wants to change the old over fender and make the new one with a slight modification. The old one was with Buckwasher model with L nuts around, and now with the new one without a nuts around and also will seem more bold then before as the old fender quiet round and opal, and the new one now with the angle with a bit sharp and pointy.
Frame of the front over fender

Actually I am not sure how will be it seem, but in my sketch it seem bold and strong. But do not know yet in the real after applied in the body of the da Trooper. Hopefully will be at least look like in the sketch. He he he…
I will inspect again next week before finalized and finishing, so if there is any doubt I still have a time to modify to a proper model and seem much better and glorious.

To be continued

See you next….!

Pimp my Hi-Roof Black Trooper project ( part 2 )

The five weeks Saturday noon.

As usual, upon home from the work office, I drive my Red Mitsubishi diesel to the work shop to have a look and monitoring the progress of the project.
This day I found that the mechanic still work with the small part of the rusted flat part on the back of the body exactly in the bottom of the side of the floor deck, near the hose of the fuel tank which is very difficult to remake.
Mr. Demung the mechanic work on it part so patience, measure the body, making the patronage by the thick paper card of the panel part, fitting on the position then cutting the metal flat for a new panel part, paint the new panel with the anti rust paint and after that welding the panel to build it on it position in precision. This is really need an extra patience to remake a small panel part like in this da Trooper. I observed that it take about 4 hour to remake the only small

Take about 3 hour only remake a small part

Take almost 3 hour to remake a small part

The right body from the doors, front vender and the side floor are finish remake, and he continue to remake the rear doors, the small unique door and the main door, where most of the bottom doors are porous by rust and make a hold around. The door are now release from its position and laying down on the used tire to check the panel, the paint are removed till the surface of the metal appear, by this time we can assigned the area which was porous by the rust. The mechanic measure the size of the door panel and decided to cut down by 12 centimeters from the bottom to waive the porous part. Then measuring the metal plat to remake the door.

ReplaReplace with the new flat metal

New flat metal for replacing the porous doors

The new flat metal is now cut and remake the body line as detail as the origin and paint the inner surface with anti rust paint. After the paint dry, the panel then welded on the original door frame to remake. And the main rear door finish in one day. Quiet fast compare to the small part of side floor. And continue with the small unique door, with also porous by the rust at the bottom of it. He start to work to measure the size of the panel, cut the flat metal, paint with the anti rust paint and welding it on the frame of the door.

Brushed by sandpaper till clean

Brushed by sandpaper till clean

The unique small door do in the same way and take another one day to remake it. After this door finish, the are fit and placed on it place after fitting and fit.
All the doors are now finish changed the metal and remake and now all of the surface of the doors are brushed by sandpaper till it’s clean. After deep clean then cover by primer foxy paint to avoid from the oxidant of rust.

The water line are serious porous by the rust til the inner frame of the roof.

The water line are serious porous by the rust til the inner frame of the roof.

The sixth weeks Saturday noon,

After all the doors are finish, now start to work with the water line in the roof, where it seem there is a porous rusted on the line. I believe that it is all the line must be cut down as I can see there is some porous spot a long the line.
So the mechanic now remove the paint along the water line to inspect how many deep the porous is. He cut by the welding fire the water line and remove the old outside metal so we can see that the frame of the roof is also porous by the rust and must also cut to replace the metal. Seem this part also quiet difficult to do since it’s position in a difficult place. I believe it will take quiet long time to do so.
But Mr. Demung the mechanic can do it so patience and very detail. He measuring the part by part and make the patronage from the thick carton paper and fitting the patronage on it position precisely, and afterward he make the real part by metal flat and make it the position and the lay out precisely as the originally. It take about 4 days to do the roof inner frame to make it precisely and same as the original, so it will keep the value of the vehicle.

Seriously injury...!

Seriously injury…!

Before welded on the position, all of the new panel part metal are painted by anti rust paint to keep the age of the metal long life and not porous by the rust quickly.
After the roof frame finish, now start to create the water line, this is also a difficult part to remake, as on a Hi Roof Trooper, there is a trap of the roof with a line along the top roof and down line lowering to the front cabin. It’s water line also have a very thin hook for the chrome garnish line. So in order to hold and fit the chrome garnish strongly, the side of waterline must have a small hook to hold it. Since the size of the chrome garnish hook along in the waterline is very thin, it is only a 2 millimeter along the roof, so it is very difficult to make it and need a high patience otherwise the part will be an usable. Mr. Demung can do it very precision as he work it with his patient and lovely. Even it will take more time to finish this part. For me, it’s OK as I wish the result will be in high quality so my da Trooper will be in a high quality performance to make me happy when driving it.

New flat metal for inner roof frame

New flat metal for inner roof frame

Mr. Demung now built the water line from the new flat metal. He take a new flat metal with 1, 5 meter in long with 20 centimeter in wide and make a fold and the using a small hammer to create and make the fold and the fitting it on the roof to make it precisely. I am quiet wondering to see him when make the fold and the water line by hand made.
He make the rear waterline first for both side, left and right, while the front side will make it after the rear side finish, as if he cut all the waterline in one time, the roof will fell down. So technically is, cut the both side left and right and let the rear side and the front, then remake the left and the right side finish and welded on it position. After right and left side are fixed and fit, then continue to cut the rear side and the front both side left and right. It will take about 2 weeks to finish these part.

Pimp my Hi-Roof Black Trooper project ( part 1)

Dear all of “da Trooper Bali” friends… After quiet long thinking and of course saving money for the project, finally my babe Hi-Roof Black Trooper went to the body and paint repair work shop just close to my home in Denpasar.

My Black Trooper

My Black Trooper

And the restoration begins .

Actually I’ve plan to repair my babe two years ago, since there is a few spot in the corner of the front door left – right are porous by the rust and the aged. As well on the roof water line, almost 25% of it are porous and seem must cut and replace it with the new flat metal, otherwise it would be rusted again in the short time.

In Tanjung Papuma

In Tanjung Papuma

So prior, I discuss with the mechanic and ask his opinion about it and he told me that it would be more safe that the water line of the roof must replacing the flat metal to make sure that the rust will not porous by rust faster.

I drive my Hi-Roof-Black-Trooper to the body and paint work shop on 15 October 2013 to show the condition and ask his opinion and discuss it with the owner of the workshop about the condition and he ask me to wait for a few days to check all the damages to make the calculate the estimation cost and time frame.

Before left the workshop, I also asked the estimation of the working days to finalize the project, so I can make a plan what to do and make a preparation as well compiling all the details might be needed to make over onto my babe Hi-Roof-Black-Trooper. The work estimated about 16 weeks for body work and another one wee for the interior work. Finish about 16 weeks or four months. Plan to change the rubber of the front cabin glass as it seem not so perfect, especially always a leaking during a hard rain.

InBromo

InBromo

And I have bought the rubber glass holder a year ago. After got the receipt of the work order copy, I left the work shop and promise will visit the work shop every Saturday noon to monitor the development and the progress.

On the first week Saturday noon,

I visit the work shop and found that the interior part as like sound system, all of the seat the floor carpets, the door trim and the ceiling trim are now removed, so I can re-inspect the inner of the vehicle, the flat of the floor where I can see that the deck of the leg room of the front passenger is porous by the rust a little bit and made a hold which is I remain the water coming from, wetting and spotting the floor carpet and left the bad smell after all.

The exterior are also now removed. The bumper of replica ARB with the T-Max EW-12500 and the DLA spot lamp is also now released from the vehicle, where I can see the disappear part like the cross member of the body, and luckily seem there is no rusted on it part. I spent my time to discuss with the mechanic about what the development is and what I expecting to do on my babe Trooper. I left the work shop at 17.00 as the work shop is closed by 4.00 earlier due to a short time of work for Saturday.

The second weeks Saturday noon,

When I visit I see the right doors front and rear already cut and took the entire rusted flat replaced with the new flat metal. I check the result of the work of the welding and seem perfected and no bias welded along the new flat. The good welding very important to have a best finishing detail. Till this work, I am very satisfied. The doors are also precisely firm on it position, especially the wide of the space between the pillar and the doors. It is precisely firm. I also discussed with the mechanic about some detail to have a best result of the welding.

The difficulty raise are to replace the side deck of the floor, as it is with double flat and in addition, very difficult to make it as same and precision as it was. The mechanic is experienced and works as a welder over than 20 years. Since then, he make part by part of the new flat, measured the size of the part precisely and fitting it on its position. Before welded on its position the new flat are painted with the rust protection paint to hamper the rust eaten the flat quickly.

I am happy with work result of the mechanic.

Check the folds of the new flat of the doors are also perfect; seem as like the original part. And got a bad news that all the over fender could not use again as rusted and porous and must make a new. It must will an additional cost involved. He he he…

In the jungle during theadventure tour

In the jungle during theadventure tour

On the third week Saturday noon,

I visit the workshop and found that all of the right side are now cleaned from the old paint till the flat surface appears. So I can inspect the condition of the flat, and it seem there is spot torn on the front right door, which I recognize when my son hit by the truck on October 2010 during our trip to the home town in Tabanan regency.

It was welded and repaints that time, but I am not satisfied with the result as the position of the door not precisely firm on it positions, especially the space with the pillar B. And now the mechanic set the position and makes it precise and firm on it position. I am glad to know it. In this week, the mechanic still work to make the right side of the deck floor, which is the difficulties part to make it. So he work so diligent and slowly to measure, fitting and measure again and again until the part is firm and precisely fit on it position. It takes more time then to make the doors which are wider than the side wall deck. I am awaiting the mechanic to work just to wants to know how to do it and how difficult he works to.. I left the workshop at 17.00 o’clock back home ask I must go to visit and stay in my home village in Tabanan regency.

On the fourth week Saturday noon,

I visit the work shop straight away from the work office and found there is some progress and it is the back door are just released, both of the wide door and the small unique door are just make up. This door is also rusted. It is almost all along the bottom part of the both are rusted, and must cut the old rusted flat and replace with the new one. It is just working to remove the old paint till the flat surface is appear and must brush to clearance to make the surface clean and smooth. It is also a difficulties part to remake the new flat as there is a difficult folds to make and there is a surface with a small hook for the balloon rubber to keep the door quiet and steady when the vehicle moving. The mechanic doing this part very gently and patience and of course take a long time. I left the work shop at 16.40 as I must back home and prepare to go to home village in Tabanan regency.
